I have been relying on frozen fruit for the last 6 months. Living just off the Alaska Highway usually doesn’t scream fresh, organic or farm to table. Especially since there’s still snow on the ground. Hello, it’s the end of April. Can we be done already?

The acai smoothie bowl has been popping up all over my computer lately. I had to get on this right away! Which probably leans toward the end of a trend in my case. I’d like to say the “super fruit” status drew me in first but in fact was the claim the acai berry has a slight chocolate taste to it. Acai’s are loaded with antioxidants so whatever the attraction, know it’s a healthy one!
The breakfast bowl is originally from Brazil, but has become quite popular in Hawaii. Both places I now have on my list of travel must go’s strictly for food reasons.
If you live in a remote location you’ll probably have to find the smoothie packs at your health food store. I searched on Amazon and while available, it doesn’t ship to the middle of no where. Lucky you if you can order!

To be clear, there is nothing guilt worthy about this green smoothie, only the actions of the weekend prior to consuming it. Birthdays are best known here for going a tad overboard. I won’t get into the details but it wasn’t pretty. Pants are tight. I’ll leave it at that.
On to greener pastures this week! I announced on Instagram my latest splurge was a Vitamix so I’ll be putting it to good use this week. We ventured to the grocery store yesterday and stocked up on all things healthy. Kale, Spinach, frozen fruit, chia seeds. You get the idea – outer most sections of the store….
It’s not everyday you find a bag of frozen cherries stuck in a snow bank. My mom did one of her marathon Costco runs and brought me back a huge bag. I wasn’t home at the time so she buried them. One of the perks living in the frozen North. You can literally make a freezer anywhere.
Now that I have an abundance of cherries I experimented with some new healthy smoothies to curb my sugar addiction during the week….
