Is there a better way to spend a Sunday than whipping up a big pot of homemade soup? Not right now anyway. The weather is still hovering below zero and the wind is howling! I declared it a pajama day and while the kids tackled their bedroom messes, I made this Beef and Tomato Noodle Soup for dinner….
Nothing makes me smarten up like booking a beach vacation. I was super lucky and won round trip airfare for two so we’re heading to Hawaii in May!! It’s our first time heading to the island and I’ve been consulting the nearby restaurant feature on google maps all week. So far I’ve found enough “must go” spots that I’m bound to gain any lost weight back but that’s my thing. Lose, gain, lose, gain. Fun stuff!

Tomato season is here and it’s making me instantly regret not growing any in my green house this year. All my friends are posting pictures of their summer harvests and I’m left heading to the grocery store. Not always a bad thing when tomatoes are on sale and you find a cute little package of multi coloured cocktail tomatoes!
I knew right away I wanted to make a tomato and basil clafoutis. A few months ago I attended a class where we paired off, cooked and photographed some new food dishes. The other team made a savoury clafoutis and I had major food envy! Typically you’ll find the sweet variety of clafoutis made with cherries and dusted with powdered sugar. Don’t let the fancy French name scare you though. This recipe is one of the easiest and impressive dishes you can make! The flan like batter is made in one bowl so it’s also very quick to prepare….
My husband and I have this lovely arrangement where I make dinner and he does the dishes. It works out well because cleaning is not my favourite and he’s not too interested in planning the nightly meals. Little did he know going into this contract that I, like my mom, use an awful amount of dishes, utensils and tools while cooking. We also tend to cook way too much often resulting in a load of clean up. Sorry!…
